BILL WALLACE HOLDS SEMINAR AT MORROW'S ACADEMY IN MOLINE

Bill "Superfoot" Wallace was in the Quad Cities on Saturday, August 18, 2001, holding a kickboxing seminar at John Morrow's Academy in Moline, IL.   Ken and Bill met in 1982 in Cincinnati (Ken interviewed Bill for his TV newscast), but this was the first opportunity Ken had to train with the retired undefeated Middleweight Champ.  The seminar focused on stretching and fighting strategies using kicks.  "It isn't internal kung fu, but Bill Wallace is a legend," says Ken.  "I watched him on network TV in 1976, knocking out a fighter with the fastest hook kick I've ever seen.  That's why I developed a hook kick."  Wallace demonstrated timing drills, and ways to misdirect your opponent and read his movements so you can adapt.  "I like to kick people in the head," Wallace smiled.  "That's what I do."  He kicked many of the participants in the head, including Ken (twice) but is so controlled that none of the kicks hurt.  At age 56, his kicks are still so fast that even the youngest black belts in attendance failed to block him.  A fun afternoon and a great workout.
