Ken Wins Gold Medal in Advanced Hsing-I Competition in Chicago

On Saturday, June 26, 2004, Ken competed in the 3rd Annual Chicago International Wushu/Gong Fu Tournament.  In the advanced Hsing-I forms competition (the most advanced group), he won the Gold Medal performing a 12-animal form called "Hsingichuan."  The all-day tournament included dozens of divisions, featuring competition among many styles of kung fu, including Tai Chi, Hsing-I and Bagua.  The tournament was held at the Holiday Inn Northshore.  It was Ken's first appearance at the tournament, and it was a fascinating day with outstanding martial artists displaying their skills.  Video clips are coming soon on this page and on a soon-to-be-created Tournament/Seminar page.  Keep checking back.

"I love tournaments," Ken says.  "I entered two events and won the gold in one of them.  It was a learning experience.  When you receive feedback from a jury of your peers, and from judges with far more experience, it's a valuable thing.  It's also fun to meet other internal artists and find out where and how they train.  The differences within even the same art are fascinating to watch."
