All martial arts systems teach
self-defense techniques, and they can vary for individual attacks. Most are
very effective. Be very careful when practicing with a partner because
injury is possible. Be particularly careful with takedowns and joint locks.
Sifu Gullette practices self-defense with the philosophy that you don't have
to hurt your training partner to be able to defend yourself. His students
have successfully defended themselves in real life with these techniques.
